Hi, I'm Jamie. Once I recovered from long Covid enough to function, I knew I needed to get healthier. Since studies have shown that specific groups of people are the ones more likely to have severe cases of Covid with an increased risk of serious illness and possibly death, it was clear that it was time to make changes. People who are overweight or obese, those with preexisting conditions such as diabetes, and older people are part of that group. For those of us who are dealing with being overweight or obese, losing weight can significantly reduce the risk of serious illness from Covid. Obesity is a national epidemic in the United States, and one that we can reduce. I knew the issues that I had with different diets in the past, what worked and what didn't work so well with me, and I used that knowledge to create a new healthy life plan that would not only help me lose weight, but that would help me develop an entirely new lifestyle that I would be able to maintain for the rest of my life—my healthy life.
The decision to write a book about my experiences was an easy one. Not only did writing help me explore many of the challenges in my life, but it also gave me a way to pass along the information with the hope of helping others, and knowing that there was a possibility that other people could benefit from my experiences helped me stay strong. There are zero options to quit if I am doing something for someone else, so even if I wanted to quit on myself, which thankfully I have not so far, I would never quit if I was helping others. This was a perfect solution to ensure my dedication to the end.
